Nickel Plate's January exhibit is
'Healing Power of Art' . My
2 paintings in that show are By the Sea &
On the Beach. The essay to
accompany these:
Throughout
history, men and women have found solace in the sea. A visit to a
seaside or beach provides a breathtaking vista, a crashing of waves,
and a fragrance of fresh ocean air. In all seasons, the vastness
and openness of the sky and water, together remind us that our needs
and problems are small and narrow. Our life takes on a proper
perspective. As we linger by the sea we have time for quiet
reflection and meditation. Anne Morrow Lindberg called this
'a gift from the sea'. Painting seascapes is an escape to the sea –
the views and sounds become a soothing repose from daily life – and
a chance to dream of walking barefoot and gathering shells.
Arts Illiana's 'Small Show'
continues through the month of
January. My birds
nests are on exhibit.
Nickel Plate will feature the 'Hoosier
Heart-Land' in February and
March as a salute to the Indiana Bicentennial year of 2016. My
paintings Red Barn, Indiana Dunes, and
Sailboat at Eagle Creek were
chosen for his special event.
River City Art Association will
be exhibiting at the Community Theater lobby in Terre
Haute. My paintings Seagull at Sunset and Energy will
be part of this show.
Cool Creek Park in Carmel will be
presenting their annual art exhibition – Nature's Inspirations.
My paintings
Sun at Sea and Wave
have been chosen for his special
event. The art work is nature scenes and/or wild animals. This is
always a beautiful presentation, and I'm pleased to be included.
Arts Illiana is presenting a
special spring exhibit – 'The Crow Show' in
honor of the thousands of crows who make Terre Haute their home. My
paintings Crow's Nest and
On the Fence will be
exhibited through April at the gallery in Terre Haute. There will be
music & refreshments at the First Fridays in February, March &
April.
Arts Illiana's annual fundraiser
Tablescapes will be held
February 25-27 at the beautifully renovated Indiana
Theater. Groups and individuals
decorate a themed table for the competition. During the event there
is a tea, a special reception, and silent auction. All proceeds go
to Arts Illiana – for the promotion of the Arts in west central
Indiana and east central Illinois. I have contributed three bird
paintings for the auction.
The Tablescapes Tea will be held
Thursday February 25 at the Indiana Theater in Terre Haute.
Dr. Laura Bates, the author of
Shakespeare Saved My Life, the Vigo Library Community Read
